She believes that everyone can create a life that meets their definition of success. Whether a person’s issues stem from under control or overcontrol, she can meet them where they are at and adapt the therapeutic approach to meet their needs. Before processing trauma, she believes it is necessary to develop skills to utilize between sessions. People who under control their behaviors will benefit from learning how to regulate their emotions, tolerate their distress, and healthily express their needs while maintaining respect towards themselves and others. Individuals that overcontrol themselves will benefit from learning how to open themselves up to new experiences, adopt flexible control and increase intimacy and social connectedness. Through mindfulness, all individuals can learn to be more present in their lives and relationships.
